Notarial Certification

When your documents are to be used overseas, it often requires that they be certified by a Notary Public. Notarisation is the process of authenticating a document by a Notary Public. A Notary Public essentially makes a document work abroad. However, every country has its own requirements as to how legal documents are prepared, executed and certified. Your Notary Public can advise you of the various formalities to be followed and the formalities to be observed under English Law, whilst executing a document.

The most common tasks of a Notary Public include:

  • Authenticating passport copies
  • Authenticating Degree certificates, transcripts and other academic certificates
  • Notarisation of Power of Attorney for use abroad

Depending on the nature of services offered by a Notary public or a Notary, there are two types of Notarial acts; public form and private form. A Notary or a Notary Public will issue a Direct Notarial Certificate as appropriate.
